Millstone Water District consists of a 1,500 gallon per minute water treatment plant and a potable water distribution system that spans from Saline County to Massac County and from Union County near the East county line to the Ohio River to the east. Millstone currently has approximately 2,457 retail customers and 3 wholesale customers.
Millstone Water District’s distribution system is composed of eight (8) storage tanks including elevated, ground storage and stand pipes. Also contained in the distribution system are five (5) pump stations. The majority of Millstone’s infrastructure was constructed in the early 1970’s.
The current Millstone Treatment Facility was constructed in 1996. The plant obtains raw water from 2 wells that pull water out of an underground aquifer. The raw water is then brought into the plant where it is treated and stored in a clearwell. From the clearwell the potable water is distributed to various storage structures in their distribution system.
